Les "Boogieman" Skinner (blues harp) Daphne, AL For the last decade Boogieman has been an original member of McKinley “Smokehouse” Porter & the Gutbucket Blues Band. He has recorded two CD’s with Smokehouse Porter - “King and Queen of the Gutbucket Blues” featuring Ms. Mamie on the Tomb label and the “Gutbucket Blues” CD on Music Busters. The “Boogieman” was also featured on the Backyard Blues track on the “Get off the Porch” album on Rex Records. One of the top harmonica players in the south, Boogie’s harp influences range from Louisiana harp players like Moses “Whisperin” Smith, Slim Harpo, and Little Walter Jacobs to other greats such as Sonny Boy Williamson, William Clarke, Rod Piazza, Rick Estrin and Kim Wilson of the Fabulous Thunderbirds. Boogieman has performed on stage with blues legend Henry Gray. He has also shared the stage with Louisiana Blues Hall of Fame performers, Rockin’ Tabby Thomas, Kenny Ray Neal, Rudy Richard, James Johnson, Raful Neal, Oscar Davis and Chuck Mitchell. He’s played with Grammy Award nominee Larry Garner, Chicago Al, King Lloyd. He’s performed with film and music star Chris Thomas King, Sam Hogan, John Lisi, T-Bone Singleton, Lil’ Ray, Troy Turner, Kenny Acosta and many others. And now he can add Dan Sanchez and The Kings of Pleasure. Les "Boogieman" Skinner plays as a King Of Pleasure every chance we get. Usually he joins the band in and around Alabama and Florida. But he has been known to just pop in at any given time on any given gig and is always welcome. |
