Dan Sanchez Dan Sanchez (lead vocals and guitar) was born to play the blues. A native of Los Angeles, California, he has been playing guitar for more than two decades. His exposure to the sounds and rhythms of the West Coast enabled him to craft a musical style that is both richly smooth and electrifyingly exhilarating. And that cultural education now consistently permeates his writing, singing, and performing. Sanchez’s formal education came through one of the most highly regarded institutions among leading contemporary music schools--the world-renowned Grove School of Music. Said to have changed the lives of countless musicians and artists, the illustrious Grove proved to be fertile ground for Sanchez as he worked diligently to hone his skills. And the undeniable result became his calling card as he expanded his horizons while interfacing with his peers. Jump, swing, jazz, rhythm and blues, and soul. Whether delivering stunning covers or show-stopping originals, Sanchez seamlessly weaves a textured musical tapestry that reflects the influence of each on his craft. The unmistakable sounds of Memphis along with Louisiana’s musical gumbo help shape performances filled with raw emotion and heart-wrenching depth. Along the way, Sanchez has crossed paths with many of immeasurable stature and influence. He is one of only a handful of musicians who have worked side-by-side with the great Joe Osborn. A West Coast studio veteran with a staggering discography of hit tunes to his credit, Osborn was part of the illustrious “Wrecking Crew” backing many of the artists dominating the radio charts of the 1960s and 70s. So, to have a craftsman of this standing note your guitar playing as “a freight train coming through, and its time to step aside,” then you’ve obviously arrived. And he couldn’t have described Dan Sanchez more accurately. But don’t think that Sanchez is only a great guitar player—with that, you have just half of the equation. Add to that virtuoso ax an inescapably commanding voice, and you’ve completed the picture. Sanchez’s voice has been described as “reminiscent of a true vintage blues shouter.” In fact, the great Buddy Flett of The Bluebirds fame once said, “With a voice like that, all he has to do is sing the same thing over and over again--I love that voice.” But according to many, all Sanchez has to do is simply show up. Which pretty much says it all. There’s no mistaking it when Dan Sanchez is in the house. And that’s absolutely what he was born to do. Visit Dan on MySpace |
