What's Happening With The Band

Trailer Park Social Club
February 2008
Dan Sanchez and the Kings of Pleasure started recording their new CD, Trailer Park Social Club with executive producer Lynwood Slim; one of the finest blues harmonica players and singers of our time. The infamous John Marx was the musical director in the studio and played rhythm guitar most of the tracks. And when Kid Ramos came in to play lead guitar on a couple covers, Sneaking Around and Woke Up This Morning, I just about fell off my stool. Then there was Paul Fasulo on drums. I love that guy! What a great sense of humor. Special guest harmonica player, Michael Fell really captured the sound and feel of this style we call Louisiana Jump. And Rick Reed’s unwavering bass could not have been anymore solid. The stand-up bass is an awesome instrument and that man has got it down. And I would never forget the special guest drummer and really great friend George Manoukian. Thanks George, the drums on the hurricane song could not have been more perfect. Of course the other members of the band, Dan Sanchez, Jason Ball, and Ryan Ramos were there laying it down for the masses. This CD is scheduled for release in the summer of 2008. I can’t wait!!!

Feels Like The First Time!
May 8th - May 24th
Our first tour of 2008 and this will be a lot “first” on this trip. After playing in Hattiesburg at the Walnut Circle Bar and Grill, we journeyed up Tuscaloosa Alabama and blew the roof off Little Willie’s. Not bad for a first impression. The next three places were also first time stops for us Natasha Bistro in Louisville Kentucky, Player’s Pub in Bloomington Indiana, and Po Boys in Peoria Illinois. From there we kicked at the Monday Night Springfield Blues Society show at the Alamo. As usual we had a blast at the Alamo. The blues society there is full of wonderful people.

One of the high points of the tour was at BB’s Jazz, Blues, and Soups in Saint Louis Missouri. What a beautiful city and so much history. BB’s is now on my top ten places I love to play. We had 2 special guests, or should I say surprises, in the club that night. The infamous Author Williams, one of blues’ legendary harp players, got up and brought it on home. It was an honor to play with him. And then John Wolf walks in with his trombone. In case you don’t know, he played with Roomful of Blues and was one of the founding members of the Uptown Rhythm Kings. I was in ah of it all. What a great player and a truly nice guy. We all hung out after the show and traded stories. How cool was that?

The last few stops were Blaney’s in Kansas City Missouri and then south to The Bayou in Rogers Arkansas, where are good friend Keith Nicholson joined us on stage. Whew! Ah! Finally back home to our old stopping grounds at Shreveport’s best and my personal favorite live music venue, the Noble Savage Tavern. A song about the Savage, as us locals call it, is on our new CD (Trailer Park Social Club) entitled 417. And finally the last first of this tour…Mud Bug Madness!!! We Louisiana boys love our mudbugs. If you’ve never had one, you got to try it. Crawfish is a wonderful thing and this festival is off the chain. And man was it hot. But we still had a blast.

Hot Time In Miami
June 2008
So here we go again to Florida. But this time we went all the way down to Miami. This is where we played the famous Tobacco Road. In case you need a travel tip…prepare to pay for parking!!! And Miami is extremely warm in June. I couldn’t imagine how hot is in August. And now we call John Hoffman…Toll Jumper. Oh and the woman are in abundance! We had a blast. It was a learning experience but a lot of fun.

Preserve the blues.
